You don't need to be an expert to be a part of this work, just a good listener. If you notice someone who might be struggling — start a conversation. At the end of the day, that person will know that you're someone who cares enough to ask. Asking, "Are you okay?" can change lives. There has been a rapid increase in rates of suicide across the nation since the turn of the 21st century. Although Clackamas County suicide rates are less when compared to the state of Oregon as a whole, suicide rates have been slowly increasing over time in the county.
